How can I check if a domestic or international card is being used?

When integrating Pin Payments into a website or application, you might need to know if a card being used is a domestic or international card. Some common reasons for this include:

  • Calculate a surcharge to pass on processing fees
  • Accept only domestic cards from customers

Each card used in your Pin Payments account has an issuing country associated with it. This is exposed through the ‘issuing_country’ property that can be accessed in the JSON response from most POST and GET requests to the Cards API Charges API and Customers API.
